Computers 4 Kids caters to the two things that I am most I’m passionate about: youth and technology. The reaction on a child’s face when they receive their free computer is priceless. It’s important in today’s climate to have access to and be educated in the use of current technology. I appreciate organizations like Computers 4 Kids because they work diligently to provide access to technology that many families in the community just don't have. My love for computers and everything technology-based was validated when I started working at a major computer company (Hewlett Packard) several years ago. Since then, I’ve moved to California and started on my own educational journey. While on campus, I was presented with the opportunity top apply for an internship at Computers 4 Kids. After…

I’ve been using computers since I was about five years old. As a teenager, I stared to feel like it was time for me to expand my knowledge and find a way to enter the computer technology field. I started attending classes at Sacramento City College in the Fall 2017 semester. I have been taking classes to work toward graduating with an AS in Computer Information Science Security. I am also working towards getting my CompTIA Certificate as well as the CCNA and Microsoft Azura certificates. I’ve been working at Computers 4 Kids since the spring of 2018. I was told about Computers 4 Kids by the program director, Lewis Bair. He was my CISC 310 professor at Sacramento City College. He knew I was interested in learning more about computers…

I became an intern at Computers 4 Kids through a program called Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). I signed up for the program when I was still in high school. WIOA is designed to help you find employment, education, training, and support services that will help you succeed in the labor market. They also match employers with the workers that match the skill set they need. I was given the option of working at Computers 4 Kids as an intern. I was told that I would be helping the community while expanding my computer knowledge. I thought it was a great opportunity, and so I gladly accepted the position. Working at Computers 4 Kids has been a fantastic experience! I’ve learned a lot about desktops, laptops, and about different types…

My time working here at Computers 4 Kids has really had a great impact on my life. I was like every other kid out there who just got out of high school, applying for jobs with no one wanting to hire them. I wanted to work, but struggled to find anyone that would take a chance by hiring me. Before I had graduated from high school, I was awarded a scholarship from Computers 4 Kids and received a free desktop computer from them. Having access to a computer began to open up a whole new world for me that eventually led to applying for college. Once I started college, I knew I needed a job so that I could learn to be more self sufficient and to provide myself with the…
